This policy explains what personal data we collect through croatiaskipper.com, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. It is written to meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, "GDPR") and the Croatian Act on the Implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation.

What we collect, and why

1. Enquiries you send us

The enquiry form on our Contact page does not store anything on this website. When you submit it, the form simply opens your own email program with the details ready to send to edward@croatiaskipper.com. If you contact us — by that form, by email, by phone, or by WhatsApp — we receive whatever you choose to share, which typically includes your name, email address or phone number, and the details of your enquiry (such as dates, vessel, and route).

• Purpose: to answer you and, if it goes ahead, to arrange and carry out the work you have asked about.
• Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)).

2. Technical information from your visit

Like every website, this site is delivered by a hosting provider whose servers automatically keep standard access logs. These may include your IP address, the date and time of your request, the pages requested, and basic browser information. We do not use these logs to identify you and do not combine them with other data.

• Purpose: to keep the site running, secure, and free of abuse.
• Legal basis: our legitimate interest in the security and proper operation of the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3. Cookies and similar storage

This site sets no analytics, advertising, or social-media tracking cookies. The only thing it stores on your device is a small record of your cookie choice, so we don't ask again on every page. Our typefaces are served from this site itself, so loading a page makes no request to any external font service. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.

Who else may receive data

We do not sell your data and do not share it for marketing. A limited number of service providers necessarily handle data on our behalf or process it when you choose to use them:

• Our web hosting provider stores the site and keeps the server logs described above, acting as our processor. (Provider: GoDaddy — see note below.)
• Our email provider receives and stores the enquiry messages you send us.
• WhatsApp / Meta and your phone network — only if you choose to contact us by WhatsApp or phone, in which case their own terms and privacy policies apply to that message or call.
• Google Maps — our Contact page links to Google Maps; it only loads if you click through, after which Google's terms apply.

Transfers outside the EU

Some of the providers above (for example Google) are US-based and may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, transfers are covered by the appropriate safeguards those providers maintain, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any engagement that follows, plus a reasonable period afterwards for our records and any legal or accounting obligations, after which it is deleted. Server logs are kept for a short period by the hosting provider and then rotated out.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (access);
• have inaccurate data corrected (rectification);
• ask us to delete your data (erasure);
• ask us to restrict how we use it;
• object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
• receive your data in a portable format; and
• withdraw any consent you have given, at any time, without affecting prior processing.
